Introduction

Traditional liquid crystal SLM has slow response and low speed, making it difficult to meet the requirements of high-speed and high-power application scenarios. Moreover, the market urgently needs a core component that can simultaneously achieve high-speed and high-power phase control. Our company has developed a phase-type digital micromirror spatial light modulator, which has achieved a technological leap from traditional amplitude modulation to high-speed and high-precision phase modulation of digital micromirror devices (DMD). It abandons the flipping method of traditional DMD digital mirrors and innovatively adopts a single mirror for nanoscale “piston-like movement”. Through precise mechanical movement to control the optical path difference (OPD), it realizes the dynamic and high-precision modulation of the spatial light field, thereby completing the high-speed and high-precision phase encoding of the incident light field. The phase-type digital micromirror spatial light modulator maintains the advantages of high refresh rate of traditional digital micromirror spatial light modulators, with a response speed of microsecond level, which is more than two orders of magnitude higher than that of liquid crystal SLM. It surpasses in all three dimensions of speed, power, and stability. It is applicable to fields such as optical computing and AI, high-end laser manufacturing, optical communication, computing imaging and 3D vision, holographic display and AR/VR, biomedicine, etc.
